Facilities

Reception

We have a large reception area and waiting room, full of useful information and our friendly, welcoming reception team. Southfields is fully computerised, so our records and appointment system runs smoothly and efficiently.

Veterinary Consulting Rooms

Our main Vet consulting room is large and spacious, providing a stress-free environment for your pet. It is fully equipped with an adjustable height table and weighing scales, ophthalmoscope and otoscope, and again a computer for our records.

Diagnostic Imaging

In 2013, we had a huge update to Southfields’ Diagnostic Imaging suite – we went digital! Our new X-ray system is state of the art, allowing us to analyse our radiographs in more detail, and to email them to referral centres for specialist opinions where needed. The following year we purchased a new Ultrasound system, also helping us to see what is going on inside our furry patients.

Dentals

We have a dental machine, complete with high-power drill, low-power tooth polished and ultrasonic scaler. We also have a brand new digital dental X-ray machine too, so we can see whether a tooth root is diseased and whether it needs to be extracted.

In-house Laboratory

Our nurses are fully trained to use our range of in-house laboratory equipment. This means we can run routine bloods at our own surgery, bringing you results within 15 minutes! We do still have to send some samples away, and we have a daily courier service at our external laboratory.

Operating Theatre

Our operating theatre is fully equipped with piped oxygen, and a wide range of surgical instruments, for routine and emergency surgeries, including soft tissue surgery and cesareans.  This means we can perform all kinds of procedures, from wart removals to excision of tumours.

Dog Ward

Our kennel room has a range of different sized dog kennels, including a walk-in kennel for extra large dogs. We also have a wide range of bedding, including memory foam mattresses, ensuring that your dog has a comfortable stay.

Cat Ward

Our dog and cat wards are separate, ensuring that cats are not stressed while they are in our care. The cat kennels are smaller than the dog ones, which is ideal for most cats, who prefer to hide in their beds, but we also have some larger kennels in our isolation room.

Our Garden

Southfields is so pleased to have a small garden at the back, where we can exercise our own pets if they come to work with us, but where we can also take our patients if they need to relieve themselves.
